I designed this magazine called ‘Good Company’ that is now in newsstands, bookstores, and grocery stores nationwide. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done this kind of design work, and it feels good. What feels even better is that it’s a really good publication. It’s about how creative people navigate the business of creativity. The illuminating subjects inside are the people that most magazines (still) keep away from: women, people of color, non-binary people, the LGBTQ community, and sometimes all of the above. And that’s what makes this such a unique publication: people telling their stories. I’m one of the few men on this project, and I love it. I’m grateful to Grace Bonney of DesignSponge* for her vision in creating this magazine and to Artisan Books for supporting it. My perspective on art-direction and designing for magazines has changes a lot since I left the industry eight years ago. It’s been a joy to put that renewed perspective to work and be a steward of this publication into the world.
